But now, onto WUW!
What I’m Reading
I bought the HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER’S STONE audiobook
and listened to it on my past few drives home and back to Pittsburgh, and it
set me off on a big HP reread. I just finished rereading THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS
last night. Each time I reread those books, I pick up on new things and marvel
even more at J.K.’s brilliance. I also read DOROTHY MUST DIE by Danielle Paige
before my Belize trip, so I’ll be posting a review soon.
I’m currently rereading Kirsten Hubbard’s WANDERLOVE (come
on, it takes place in Guatemala and Belize…I’ve gotta reread it!) and THRONE OF
GLASS by Sarah J. Maas. I started THRONE OF GLASS before my trip, and I’m about
75% of the way through it. I normally don’t read a ton of fantasy but I’m
starting to get into it, and this book has me hooked!
What I’m Writing
As part of my Belize trip, I have to write travel essays for
a grade. They’re due May 30th, so I need to get going! I started one
yesterday…wish me luck! This deadline is making me anxious! I haven’t decided
if I have any big writing plans for the summer yet. Second year MFA students
have recommended having a second project to work on along with your thesis so
you don’t go insane, so maybe I’ll start something over the summer and carry on
throughout the upcoming school year. Or I could continue with my project from
last summer. I really don’t know yet!
What Inspires Me Right Now
The memories and photos from my trip! I’ll go into more detail
in future travel posts, but I found so many things to write about in those two
weeks. I’ll probably be writing about Belize and Guatemala for the next two
years!
What Else is New?
Just sorting through pictures like these:
Life could be worse!
Looks like you had a great trip! :) Good luck with your travel essays!
ReplyDeleteI need to pick up a copy of Dorothy Must Die at some point, it sounds quite fun.
Have a great week!
Thanks for the luck, Jess! I made some progress on the essays yesterday, hooray!
DeleteDOROTHY was a really fun book. I hope you enjoy reading it!
What an amazing trip! Wow.
ReplyDeleteI still find it so amusing that Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is not called that in the US.
Have a great week!
I know, it's so strange that they have different titles...I'm sure they could've stuck with "Philosopher" In the US and everyone would've understood it just fine, but oh well!
DeleteThat trip looks and sounds wonderful! I would do nothing but read, write, and sightsee. :-) And talk about inspiration for writing. I'm almost done my HP reread. I'm about to start THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, and I can't believe I'm almost through the whole series again. Like you, I'm picking up on *so* many things.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having an awesome week! And good luck with those travel essays. :-)
Reading/writing/sightseeing pretty much sums up my activities on the trip (besides having bugs/birds/frogs/other outdoor creatures fling themselves at me)! Tons of writing inspiration for sure!
DeleteAnd congrats on being almost done with your HP reread...those books make me feel like I'm nine years old again, best feeling ever!!
I loved Dorothy Must Die. Such a fun read. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI agree, DOROTHY was so much fun! I'm ready for the next book to come out!
DeleteWow, your trip must have been amazing! Jealous!
ReplyDeleteI read Wanderlove but I don't even remember it... sheesh.
One of these days I'm going to have a HP reread fest. Unfortunately I've always got too many other books on my TBR.
WANDERLOVE is such a good book, and I'm pretty sure it will infect ALL readers with a travel bug. I haven't even been back in the country a week and I'm already dreaming up new trips to take!
DeleteI totally understand having tons of books on your TBR! I'm trying to read a bunch of different series at the same time and it's making my head spin!
What gorgeous photos! It looks like you had an amazing trip, I'm definitely NOT jealous *manic giggle*. I've been reading Goblet of Fire to my boyfriend aloud (we've managed the only 3 too) and he's loving it, having never read HP before and not being a big reader. I'm just as hooked, I'd forgotten all the little details JK weaves into her books.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your travel essays, Kaitlin!

Thanks Caitie! :) Reading the books with your boyfriend sounds like so much fun. I love having someone to talk to about a great book! <3
DeleteI can't say it enough: your pictures are amazing. So glad you had an awesome time. Can't wait to hear about it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again Shari! More will be coming soon!
