end of the semester

My semester ended last Wednesday, and I've been home for a week now. All my grades have been posted, and I was able to keep my GPA where I want it. I managed an A- in Advanced Short Story, which I'm really excited about because it was a rocky semester. My second workshop story crashed and burned, but I think my third one made up for it. It's called "Rearranging Angels" and it's my favorite story I've written at SU. I'm sending it to grad schools as my writing sample, so hopefully they like it! I might do a post solely dedicated to it later.

I'm super excited for next semester, even though it's my last one. I'm taking Novel with Tom Bailey, and by the end of the class I'll have to write 100 pages of a novel!!! I kind of want to come up with some potential plots over break so I'll have something to work from when the class starts. I'm contemplating expanding one of my short stories, possibly "Rearranging Angels," but I"m not positive. I'm also doing an independent study with Tom, so I'll be generating a TON of stories (I think other people who've done independent studies wrote a story every two weeks).

I officially have two grad school applications submitted: University of Massachusetts Amherst and Vanderbilt. Amherst is my second choice, and I applied to Vandy because the app was free and I'd love to live in Nashville (but I'm not holding my breath). My Chatham application is done except for the recommendation letters, and then I have three other applications after that. They'll keep me busy, that's for sure!

I'm going to try and post here more often during break. It's lovely to be back!
